Nagarkot sits at 2,175m on the eastern rim of the Kathmandu Valley, about an hour's drive from Thamel. On a clear day, the ridge here opens a 360-degree view of the Himalayan range from Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east, with Everest, Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and dozens of other identifiable peaks across the horizon. The day hike earns the view rather than driving straight to it.
The trip starts with a 1-hour drive to Changunarayan, a UNESCO World Heritage Temple on the valley rim. From there, a 4-hour hike through forested ridgelines, terraced farmland, and Tamang villages leads to the Nagarkot ridge for lunch and panoramic photographs. The return is by vehicle. Guide, lunch, and private transfers all included. For other valley hikes, see our Namobuddha hiking trip or browse our Kathmandu Valley activities.
All of our holidays are completely tailor-made and prices will vary based on things like when in the year you will be travelling (High season, Low season), how far in advance you book, the number of people travelling in your group, the level of accommodation you choose etc. Please click on the next tab (INQUIRY/ BOOKING) and send us your inquiry.
