Most international visitors to Nepal take 8 to 12 days. It is enough time for the classic circuit - Kathmandu, Chitwan, Pokhara - and it is genuinely excellent. But Nepal's extraordinary diversity of landscape, culture and activity compresses badly into a short itinerary. The Everest Base Camp Trek alone takes 14 days. Bardia National Park, Nepal's finest tiger territory, requires a 10-hour journey from Kathmandu that no 8-day itinerary can justify. Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, sits 7 hours west of Kathmandu - a diversion that makes complete sense when you have 21 days and is impossible when you have 10. The remote hill towns of Bandipur, Dhulikhel and Tansen reward overnight stays that a day-trip itinerary cannot give them. A long stay Nepal holiday is not a longer version of the standard circuit. It is a different category of experience entirely.

Both are frameworks: every element is customizable to your interests, group size, fitness level and budget.
Long stay packages offer a further practical advantage: longer time in-country allows us to schedule activities around weather and conditions rather than forcing them into fixed windows. If the Lukla flight is cancelled (it happens), a long stay itinerary can absorb the delay. If tiger tracking in Bardia needs an extra morning, it gets one. October to November gives the best overall conditions across all activities: clear post-monsoon skies for mountain views, comfortable trekking temperatures, active wildlife in national parks and Nepal's biggest festival season (Dashain and Tihar). March to May is the spring season with rhododendron blooms on trek routes. A 20-21 day program has the advantage of being able to schedule the trek component for the most favorable weather window within your trip - something a short trip cannot do.
