Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking experiences, combining dramatic Himalayan scenery with deep spiritual significance as it journeys through the beautiful Langtang Valley to the sacred alpine lakes of Gosaikunda.
This trek takes you north of Kathmandu through lush forests, traditional Tamang villages, and high mountain landscapes, gradually ascending from river valleys to alpine terrain. Along the way, you experience close-up views of snow-capped peaks, ancient monasteries, and the serene Langtang Valley before crossing to the holy Gosaikunda Lake, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists for its spiritual power and natural beauty.
What makes this trek truly special is its rare blend of adventure and culture. Unlike busier routes, the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek offers quieter trails, authentic village life, and a meaningful spiritual journey at high altitude. The contrast between green valleys, high passes, and sacred lakes creates a diverse and deeply enriching trekking experience suitable for both seasoned adventurers and travelers seeking cultural and spiritual connection.
If you are looking for a trek that balances challenge with cultural depth, nature with spirituality, and adventure with authenticity, the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek invites you to explore one of Nepal’s most inspiring mountain journeys and discover the Himalayas beyond the ordinary.
Meet our representative at the airport who will transfer you to the Hotel. Hotel checking-in and go for sightseeing tour. Overnight in Kathmandu.
It takes about 11 hours on a bus for us to reach Dhunche. Since tourist buses do not travel to this region we make our journey in a local bus. Overnight stay in Dhunche
From Dhunche we cross rivers, pass through forests and walk mostly uphill before we stop for an overnight stay in Sing Gompa.
The trail leading to Gosaikunda is mostly steep and rugged. According to Hindu mythology, the holy lakes of Gosaikuda was created by Lord Shiva's Trishul (three pointed weapon) so that he could drink it's cold water and quench his thirst.
As we head towards the Laurebina pass (4610m) the trail climbs through rugged paths passing through small lakes in between.
From Tharepati the trail to passes through forests of fir and rhododendron as we arrive in Magen Goth (3420m), Panghu and finally Khutumsang.
The trail now descends to the beautiful hamlet of Gul Bhanjyang and then climbs up to Thodang Betini (2260m) and Chipling (2170m).
Today our trail makes a steep descent as we stop in Pati Bhanjyang (1860m), before finally arriving in Chisopani.
Leaving Chisopani, the trail passes through meadows and cultivated fields and then climbs through oak and rhododendron forest to Burlang Bhanjyang. From here there are magnificent views, from Annapurna in the west to Ganesh Himal and Numbur in the east. This ridge marks the northern rim of the Kathmandu valley. You now begin descending steeply through dense forest of oak, pine and rhododendron to cross a dam and then follow a large water pipe which supplies much of the water for Kathmandu. Soon you are down into Sundarijal where you pick up transport back to Kathmandu.
