These three itineraries are starting templates, not fixed scripts – adjust trek length and city days around your fitness, time, and interest in trekking versus sightseeing. All three assume you're combining Kathmandu, Pokhara, at least one trek, and international flights in and out of Kathmandu.

• Day 18: Lumbini (birthplace of Buddha) or Bandipur heritage village

Note: if Everest Base Camp is the priority for a 21-day trip, it typically works better as a dedicated block flown directly via Lukla from Kathmandu rather than routed through Pokhara – see our Everest Base Camp Solo Trek Guide for the full standalone itinerary and adjust city days around it.
Lukla flights (for Everest region treks) are notoriously weather-dependent and delays of a day or more are common. If Everest Base Camp is part of your route, build at least one buffer day into your Kathmandu schedule before your international departure. Domestic flights to Pokhara are more reliable but not immune to weather delays either.
If trekking is the main draw, compress city time and extend the trek – Annapurna Circuit or a longer Everest region route (Gokyo Lakes, Three Passes) can absorb an extra week easily. If cultural sightseeing matters more, add Lumbini, Bandipur, or Nagarkot and keep the trek to a shorter beginner route. For trek-specific route options at different fitness and time levels, see our Best Solo Treks in Nepal for Beginners.
If you'd rather have this built and permits handled for you, Getaway Nepal Adventure's tailor-made holidays team will put together a version of any of these itineraries around your specific dates.
How many days do I need in Nepal for a solo trip?
10-14 days is the sweet spot for combining Kathmandu, Pokhara, a proper trek, and a short Chitwan safari without feeling rushed. 7 days is workable if you pick one focus – either trekking or sightseeing.
Can I fit Everest Base Camp into a 14-day Nepal trip?
It's tight. EBC itself typically needs 12-14 days including Lukla flight buffers, leaving little room for Pokhara or Chitwan. If EBC is the priority, plan closer to 16-18 days total or treat it as a standalone trip.
Should I do Pokhara before or after trekking?
Both if time allows – a night or two before helps you acclimatize to Nepal's altitude gradually and buy any last gear; a night or two after gives you somewhere comfortable to recover before flying home.
What's the best short trek to fit into a 7-day itinerary?
Poon Hill (shortened to 3-4 days) or the Australian Camp/Dhampus trek (2-3 days) both fit comfortably into a one-week trip alongside city time.
