Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: Annapurna's Best Short Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, also known as the Annapurna Sunrise Trek or Annapurna Panorama Trek, is the most accessible multi-day trek in the Annapurna region and one of the best short treks anywhere in Nepal. Over 8 days, it reaches the famous Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210m), widely regarded as the best easily accessible sunrise viewpoint in the Annapurna Himalaya, without the altitude or duration demands of longer routes.

The trek starts from Birethanti, about an hour's drive from Pokhara, and climbs through Sherpa and Gurung villages, forests, and riverbanks to Ulleri and on to Ghorepani. From Ghorepani, an early morning climb to Poon Hill rewards trekkers with a panorama of more than 20 Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and the Nilgiri range, all lit by sunrise. The return route descends through Tadapani and the traditional Gurung village of Landruk before returning to Pokhara.

This trek is ideal for first-time trekkers, families with older children, and travellers with limited time who still want a genuine taste of Himalayan trekking and one of Nepal's best mountain panoramas. For a longer, higher-altitude alternative in the same region, see our Annapurna Base Camp Trek, or browse our full range of Annapurna treks.
